Maintaining connectedness to the workplace is essential to the healing process; it helps you stay engaged with other people and reinforces your sense of self-worth. Holistic treatment
Our first step is to conduct a psychiatric assessment to ensure that we understand you, and any mental illness that is affecting you. Once we determine the underlying problem, we can identify your potential to contribute, recommend appropriate treatment, and support your employer to match tasks to your current ability. If tasks exceed your capacity, you can become overwhelmed. If they aren’t challenging enough, your motivation will suffer. The earlier we can intervene in your mental illness, the more timely your full recovery will be.

Mynkala will address all factors that positively or negatively affect capacity. Many of these factors are non-medical, including societal, social, family, and work environment, among others. But they can all contribute to, or be negatively affected by, mental illness. Mynkala will consider how each of these factors interacts, and how each is either positively or negatively affecting your current capacity. We’ll then help you identify how to enhance positive factors and reduce negative factors to improve your mental health in the workplace and elsewhere.

Our goal is to help identify tasks that match your current capacity. When this balance is achieved, you will be at your most productive. As your impairment decreases, your capacity increases. Mynkala will monitor your progress throughout treatment, and will continually support your employer to adjust tasks so that they match your improving capacity.
Mynkala will work closely with you, search your employer, your insurer, and any existing care providers to ensure that your treatment is properly coordinated.

Our process begins with an intake psychiatric assessment. At the end of your assessment, we will provide:

  • An evaluation of your job-specific impairments
  • A stepped care treatment plan designed to reduce these impairments and return you to well-being and productivity

Stepped care means that you’ll be offered only the treatment and intervention necessary for your individual requirements, which depend on the complexity of your situation and the severity of your illness. Our intake assessment may indicate that you don’t need Mynkala services and that you’ll recover in a timely fashion with your current care provider(s); or it may identify your need for treatment from a psychiatrist, psychologist, occupational therapist, or whatever combination of interventions is specifically required. At Mynkala, we’ll match the type and level of care to your specific circumstances and needs.

Evidence-based treatment
Once you’ve been diagnosed, we’ll take a balanced approach in developing a treatment program that meets your needs and integrates your existing support system. With your consent, Mynkala will liaise with any other healthcare providers you’ve consulted, such as a family doctor or therapist, to help ensure that there is no duplication of care and that your treatment is coordinated.
